Tweed started life as a rough woollen fabric with patterns made from the weaving of different coloured wools to make up a check pattern The patterns have become a tradition in both Ireland and Britain for informal wear, due to it being very durable. Tweeds are traditionally made to withstand harsh climates, hence it’s most commonly associated with Scotland and Ireland. It was always associated with quality due to the lengthy production process and its hard wearing nature. And so it was also generally associated with the gentry especially during the early part of the 19th century.
But these days modern tweed has come a long way. Gone are the days when it would be made from rough wool, now with it’s associations with quality it is often made from softer wools like are very own British 100% Merino Wool. It’s super soft so super cosy and comfortable. And we’re ensuring that traditions continue with it being British made.
The colours as well have had a refresh so there’s more modern reds and dusky pinks as well as vibrant pinks woven into a tweed check pattern to look as luxurious as it feels at the same.
To help compliment the tweed collection we’ve also developed a subtle grey herringbone collection of hot water bottles and microwave body wraps as well.
